Time to relax after your flights on the exceptional beaches with watersports and snorkelling, Guided visit to an intriguing underwater museum with exhibits that highlight coral conservation.
Day 3 : Cancun to Chichen Itza | Meals: Breakfast
Drive from Cancun to Chichen Itza for a guided tour of this Mayan city centre dominated by El Castillo pyramid. Overnight stay in Chichen Itza.
Day 4 : Chichen Itza to Merida
Drive from Chichen Itza to the beautiful colonial city of Merida.
Days 4 to 7 : Merida | Meals: Breakfast
Merida had limited transport links until 1950’s and so has retained its colonial buildings and atmosphere. Founded in 1542 on the site of a Mayan city, Merida has the second largest historic centre after Mexico City. Nicknamed the ‘White City’ because of the white limestone used in its buildings, parts of the Spanish walls still remain intact today. We include three guided day trips – one to a sisal hacienda, one to Uxmal, deep in the jungle with ruins of vast ceremonial temples and one to Celestun, a fishing village on the coast famous for its flocks of pink flamingoes.
Day 8 : Drive from Merida to Playa del Carmen

A final few days to relax and enjoy the glorious beaches of Riviera Maya. We include guided day excursions – Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, with enormous flocks of birds as well as turtles and jaguars, and nearby Muyil’s Mayan temple; Tulum’s beaches and ruins and Xel-Ha underwater cave with shoals of tropical fish.
