Day 1 : London to Mexico City
Fly to Mexico City, Mexico’s capital city.
Days 1 to 3 : Mexico City | Meals: Breakfast
Mexico City is bursting with fascinating archaeological and historic sights. We include a half day city tour which takes in the National Palace, which dates back to 1693, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the largest church in Latin America as well as Aztec and Mayan exhibits in the Anthropological Museum. We also include a full day guided tour with lunch to the two thousand year old Teotihuacan city with its vast
Pyramid of the Sun.
Day 4 : Mexico City to Oaxaca via Puebla
Days 4 to 6 : Oaxaca | Meals : Breakfast
Drive from Mexico City to Puebla, with its hundreds of churches and preserved colonial buildings, and then on to bustling Oaxaca with its fine museums and colonial architecture. We also include a full day guided tour to Monte Alban, a pre-Colombian Zapotec ceremonial centre and Mitla.
Day 7 : Oaxaca to Palenque via Mexico City
Days 7 and 8 : Palenque | Meals: Breakfast
On arrival from Oaxaca rest of day at leisure. Next day a full day guided tour of Palenque, the site of beautiful Mayan ruins still swathed in jungle.
Day 9 : Palenque to Campeche | Meals: Breakfast
Drive to from Palenque to Campeche on the Gulf coast in time to explore this Unesco World Heritage colonial city. Overnight stay.
Day 10 : Campeche to Merida | Meals : Breakfast
Days 10 and 11 : Merida | Meals : Breakfast
Drive to from Campeche to Merida. En route visit Uxmal’s jungle-swathed, monumental Mayan pyramids. Then to picturesque Merida, a well preserved Spanish colonial city founded in 1542, for two nights.
Day 12 : Merida to Chichen Itza | Meals : Breakfast
Drive from Merida to Chichen Itza with its many buildings and temples of stone from Mayan and non-Mayan times. Overnight stay.
Day 13 : Chichen Itza to Cancun to London | Meals : Breakfast
Drive from Chichen Itza to Cancun to catch your flight home.
Day 14 : London
Arrival in London.
