Cuenca

South of Quito, Cuenca is a quintessentially Spanish colonial city with cobbled streets, tree-lined plazas and centuries-old churches. Cuenca is a centre for craftwork, where the Panama hat originated, and colourful ceramics, jewellery and ponchos are still available today.
