Milan

Milan is the second-largest city in Italy and the capital of the Lombardy region. It’s best known for fashion, design and business. Still, it has plenty of attractions for visitors interested in Italy’s historical past.

The city has a rich history. The Romans established a settlement here in the 4th century BC, and the Visigoths, the Lombards, and the Austrians later ruled the city. During the Renaissance, Milan became a cultural and economic centre, with figures such as Leonardo da Vinci and Francesco Sforza leaving their mark on the city.
