Garden Route
The Garden Route stretches from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth, following the foot of the Outeniqua and Tsitskamma Mountains and offering stunning mountain and coastal scenery, pristine beaches, water sport opportunities and wildlife and bird life experiences. It is best explored as a self-drive or guided tour option.
The Garden Route National Park has spectacular plunging cliffs and masses of flora and fauna including 800 year old yellowoods, mosses and ferns.
Featherbed is a privately owned nature reserve and heritage site and Tsitskamma Forest has a monkey sanctuary and beautiful forest trails.
There are golf courses, artists’ communities, craft centres and gorgeous white sandy beaches. and Plettenberg Bay is a seaside resort with a soft coral reef ideal for snorkellers and divers.
Dolphins and whales can regularly be spotted and nature lovers can enjoy game drives or guided walks on one of the many game reserves in the region, with a good chance of seeing all of Africa’s famous Big Five.
