Eastern Cape - Safaris
The Eastern Cape is the second largest of South Africa’s nine provinces, with a diverse landscape ranging from lush evergreen forest to rugged mountains and from arid savanna to beautiful pristine beaches. The area is also a nature and wildlife paradise offering visitors ample opportunities to observe Africa’s Big Five in malaria-free and family friendly locations, only a 90 minute drive from Port Elizabeth.
We feature a number of different game reserves, some already well known whilst others we have discovered for you. The larger reserves have a number of different lodges within the reserve of different sizes and styles to suit guests with varying tastes.
Two of the best known reserves are Shamwari and Amakhala. Shamwari Game Reserve is an award-winning reserve and one of the oldest game reserves in the Eastern Cape, covering a vast 25,000 hectares. Amakhala Reserve is smaller, though still extensive with 7,500 hectares, and offers a number of personalised game viewing experiences.
